GCSE retakes
Good GCSE grades can help you get more interesting and better paid jobs. And you’ll need them for a lot of college courses.
Getting good grades can also help your confidence and sense of achievement.

Here are three questions to ask yourself if you’re deciding whether to retake your GCSEs.
Do I need GCSEs for college?
You may do! But even if you want to do course that needs GCSEs, there are sometimes other ways of getting on to do a course
You’ll need to talk to the college if you want to find out about this. For instance, they might let you take a special test instead.
Do I need GCSEs for the jobs I’m interested in?
GCSEs are a great way of showing employers that you’re bright. But there can be other ways too.
If you haven't got maths GCSE, a reference from a shop where you’ve worked on the till may show that you’re good at numbers.
You can rewrite your CV to highlight your skills rather than your exam grades.
Should I retake my GCSEs now or later?
If you need better GCSE grades now, and you feel ready for more study, then you should go for it.
If you're not sure, there may be no need to decide yet. In a year or two you may be more ready to go back to the classroom and get the best grades you can.
