 Improving Your Job Search & Application Skills 

To be successful in the search for work, young people need to know how to make the best possible decisions when selecting jobs, and assessing and describing their skills before completing application forms and attending interviews.

 

This unit is designed to give young people confidence in their job searching. With recognition that this is a very difficult process even for those with lots of experience, working through this unit will give young people some of the tools they need to undertake this task with confidence.

 

 

 

Learning Outcomes

 

After completing this unit, young people will know:

 

§ How to complete an application form

§ What job descriptions and person specifications are, and why they should be used to complete application forms

§  How to write a letter of application, or a cover letter

§  What to expect at an interview

§  How to prepare for an interview

§  How to behave at an interview, including speech and body language
